Khus sharbat
The name seems unfamiliar right..?
It’s one of the forgotten recipes of our India. It’s made of Khus root. It’s so healthy and a perfect drink during our long summer days. It’s a kind of dried roots with an awesome fragrance.
Now let’s see how to make this wonderful drink.
First separate the dried roots and rinse them well in running water. Drain them and chop them with kitchen scissors. Soak the roots in water overnight or for 9 to 10 hours. Strain and collect the water in a bowl. Just squeeze the roots and extract all the water content from them.
This is the khus root(dry).
Add sugar to the extract and stir well. Finally boil the mixture for about 5 to 7 minutes. It should be sticky. Again strain the extract to remove the sugar impurities. Close the lid immediately. Let it cool and keep it in the refrigerator. Whenever you need a drink just add the syrup to a plain water or chilled water and have it.
Serve it cold..!!!
It relieves thirst and burning sensation. It’s good for our blood and skin. Strengthens our digestive system.
